Q31 / 180 · KCET 2010 · Chemistry

Time required for 100 per cent completion of a zero order reaction is

  • A
    $\frac{2 k}{a}$
  • B
    $\frac{\mathrm{a}}{2 \mathrm{k}}$
  • Correct answer
    C
    $\frac{\mathrm{a}}{\mathrm{k}}$
  • D
    ak

Solution

For zero order reactions, $$ [\mathrm{A}]=-\mathrm{kt}+[\mathrm{A}]_{0} $$ where, $[\mathrm{A}]_{0}=$ initial concentration $=\mathrm{a}$ $[\mathrm{A}]=$ remaining concentration $=\mathrm{a}-\mathrm{a}=0$ On putting values of $[\mathrm{A}]_{0}$ and $[\mathrm{A}]$, we get $$ \mathrm{t}=\frac{\mathrm{a}}{\mathrm{k}} $$

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
