Across the 21 papers analysed here, AIIMS has asked 3780 questions in total - 1991 easy (53%), 1170 moderate (31%) and 619 tough (16%), averaging about 180 questions per paper. The toughest paper analysed was AIIMS 2019 25th May, with 22% tough questions. The easiest was AIIMS 2015, with 64% easy questions.

3.How can I get better at solving AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam questions?
AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam was a competitive exam, so it rewards more than knowing the syllabus: you also need speed, accuracy and the judgement to pick which questions to attempt first. Board-exam preparation already covers a good part of the syllabus, so the real gap is usually in applying it under time pressure. The most reliable way to close that gap is to solve PYQs regularly, along with full-length mock tests, and to review every mistake afterwards until the same kind of question stops costing you marks.
4.What was the paper pattern of the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam?
The AIIMS MBBS entrance exam was conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi for admission to MBBS at the AIIMS institutes. The pattern of its last edition (2019) was as follows:
- Mode: computer-based test, held in two shifts a day.
- Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes.
- Questions: 200 in total - 60 in Physics, 60 in Chemistry, 60 in Biology and 20 in General Knowledge and Aptitude. Questions were multiple choice, along with reason-assertion type.
- Marking scheme: +1 for every correct answer and −1/3 for every incorrect answer. Unattempted questions carried no marks.
- Maximum marks: 200.
- Languages: English and Hindi.

7.Can I still appear for the AIIMS MBBS entrance exam to join AIIMS?
No. The AIIMS MBBS entrance exam was discontinued after 2019. From 2020 onwards, admission to MBBS at all AIIMS institutes is through NEET UG followed by MCC counselling, so NEET UG is compulsory to join AIIMS.

The AIIMS MBBS entrance exam was of 200 marks in total. Physics, Chemistry and Biology carried 60 marks each (60 questions each) and General Knowledge and Aptitude carried 20 marks (20 questions). Every question carried 1 mark, with a negative mark of 1/3 for a wrong answer.
9.Can AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam papers still help with NEET UG 2027?
Yes, in a limited way. its papers were tested on the same Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology that NEET UG now tests, so they remain useful practice material for medical entrance preparation. Solving them also gives you practice in reading a question quickly and choosing an approach, which carries over to any entrance exam.
10.Why was AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam regarded as a difficult exam?
Several things make the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam demanding: a large number of candidates competing for a limited number of seats, a wide syllabus, and the pressure of solving accurately within the time limit. A few mistakes can cost a lot of rank, and the paper can feel different from one year to the next. The best answer to that is to prepare every chapter properly and to practise past papers so the format and difficulty feel familiar.
