VITEEE is a competitive exam, so it rewards more than knowing the syllabus: you also need speed, accuracy and the judgement to pick which questions to attempt first. Board-exam preparation already covers a good part of the syllabus, so the real gap is usually in applying it under time pressure. The most reliable way to close that gap is to solve PYQs regularly, along with full-length mock tests, and to review every mistake afterwards until the same kind of question stops costing you marks.

VITEEE is conducted by Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) for admission to B.Tech programmes at its campuses. The pattern of the latest edition is as follows:

• Mode: computer-based test; a candidate can appear only once.
• Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes (150 minutes).
• Subjects: Mathematics (or Biology for the biology stream), Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude.
• Questions: 125 multiple choice questions - 40 in Mathematics/Biology, 35 in Physics, 35 in Chemistry, 5 in English and 10 in Aptitude.
• Marking scheme: +4 for every correct answer and −1 for every incorrect answer. Unanswered and marked-for-review questions carry no marks.
• Maximum marks: 500.
• Language: English.

Yes. According to the official VITEEE website, VITEEE is mandatory for B.Tech admission at VIT Vellore, Chennai, AP and Bhopal, and the selection is based on the VITEEE rank followed by counselling. Class 12 marks or JEE Main scores are not considered for admission.

VITEEE has 125 questions of 4 marks each, i.e. 500 marks. Mathematics (or Biology) carries 160 marks (40 questions), Physics 140 marks (35 questions), Chemistry 140 marks (35 questions), Aptitude 40 marks (10 questions) and English 20 marks (5 questions).

Start with the previous year papers. They show how the paper is structured and which topics are asked most often. VITEEE rarely repeats a question word for word, but the same concepts and question patterns return, often with only the values or options changed. So use past papers to find the important chapters, then practise those chapter by chapter, and take timed papers to build speed. Several things make the VITEEE demanding: a large number of candidates competing for a limited number of seats, a wide syllabus, and the pressure of solving accurately within the time limit.
