Q104 / 160 · AP EAMCET 2021 (19 Aug Shift 2) · Mathematics

The value of k (k>0), for which the function fx=ex-14sinx2k2log1+x22, where x≠0 and f(0)=8, is continuous at x=0, is

  • A
    1
  • B
    4
  • Correct answer
    C
    2
  • D
    3

Solution

Here, we can know for continuity, limx→0fx=8

⇒limx→0ex-14sinx2k2log1+x22=8

Now, limx→0ex-14sinx2k2log1+x22=limx→0ex-1x4sinx2k2x2×log1+x22x2 (dividing x4, to the numerator and denominator)

=limx→0ex-1x4sinx2k2k×x2k2×log1+x22x22×2=limx→0ex-1x4sinx2k2k2×x2k2×log1+x22x22×2=11k2×12=2k2

So, 2k2=8 ⇒k=2 (ignoring the negative value)

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
