The smallest ketone and its next homologoue are reacted with $\mathrm{NH}_2 \mathrm{OH}$ to form oxime
- Atwo different oximes are formed
- Correct answerBthree different oximes are formed
- Ctwo oximes are optically active
- Dall oximes are optically active
Solution
Lowest ketone is $\mathrm{CH}_3 \mathrm{COCH}_3$ (which form an oxime) and its next homologue is $\mathrm{CH}_3 \mathrm{CH}_2 \mathrm{COCH}_3$ which form oxime with $\mathrm{NH}_2 \mathrm{OH}$. Such oxime shows the property of geometrical isomerism, i.e., it shows two isomers, symmetric and antisymmertic. (These are differ w.r.t. arrangement towards the space of $-\mathrm{C}=\mathrm{N}$, their different behaviour, can be confirmed with the help of Beckmann's rearrangement.

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
