Q111 / 180 · NEET 2020 (Phase 2) · Physics

The equivalent resistance between A and B for the mesh shown in the figure is

Figure

  • A
    7.2 Ω
  • Correct answer
    B
    16 Ω
  • C
    30 Ω
  • D
    4.8 Ω

Solution

When the resistance is connected in series then the formula of equivalent resistance, R=R1+R2+R3+....+Rn, but when they are connected in parallel then net resistance is, 1R=1R1+1R2+1R3+...+1Rn, so in the above diagram the equivalent resistance will be,

Figure,

in the above branch, resistance are connected in parallel, so new equivalent resistance will be,

So, the final resistance will be, Rnet=4+4+8 Ω=16 Ω.

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
