The boiling points of 0.01 M aqueous solution of sucrose, NaCl and $\mathrm{CaCl}_2$ would be
- Ahighest for sucrose solution
- Bsame for all
- Correct answerChighest for $\mathrm{CaCl}_2$ solution
- Dhighest for NaCl solution
Solution
Sucrose $\longrightarrow$ No dissociation
$\begin{aligned} & \mathrm{NaCl} \longrightarrow \mathrm{Na}^{+}+\mathrm{Cl}^{-} \\ & \mathrm{CaCl}_2 \longrightarrow \mathrm{Ca}^{2+}+2 \mathrm{Cl}^{-}\end{aligned}$
Elevation in boiling point is directly proportional to the number of particles and $\mathrm{CaCl}_2$ solution contains more number of particles. Hence, $\Delta T_b$ will be maximum for $\mathrm{CaCl}_2$ and so will be the boiling point.
Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
