Alpha hydrogen is not present in given carbonyl compound so, Cannizzaro reaction takes place. In this reaction one molecule get oxidised to salt of carboxylic acid and another molecule get reduced to alcohol. Hydrolysis of salt of carboxylic acid will produce carboxylic acid. Reaction can be represented as below:
