Q24 / 105 · NTA Abhyas (JEE Main) 2020 · Mathematics · Three Dimensional Geometry

A line parallel to 6i^-3j^+2k^ intersects the line x1=y2=z2 at A and the line x+11=y+22=z+32 at B, then the length of AB is equal to

  • A
    37 units
  • B
    5439 units
  • Correct answer
    C
    785 units
  • D
    9425 units

Solution

Both the given lines are parallel to b→=i^+2j^+2k^
Figure
Let the angle between the line and 6i^-3j^+2k^ is θ
∴cosθ=i^+2j^+2k^⋅6i^−3j^+2k^3×7=421
Let the 1st line is passing through a→=0→ and the 2nd line is passing through c→=-i^-2j^-3k^
AC= distance between the parallel lines =a→-c→×b→b→
=i^+2j^+3k^×i^+2j^+2k^3=53
∴AB=ACsec⁡90-θ=ACcosecθ
=53×21425=785

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
