Q5 / 105 · NTA Abhyas (JEE Main) 2020 · Mathematics · Three Dimensional Geometry

Let P1: x-2y+3z=5 and P2: 2x-3y+z+4=0 be two planes. The equation of the plane perpendicular to the line of intersection of P1=0 and P2=0 and passing through 1,1,1 is

  • A
    11x-5y+7z-13=0
  • Correct answer
    B
    7x+5y+z=13
  • C
    x+2y+z-4=0
  • D
    x-2y+4z+3=0

Solution

The normal vector of plane P1=0 is n1→=i^-2j^+3k^
The normal vector of plane P2=0 is n2→=2i^-3j^+k^
A vector parallel to the line of intersection of P1=0 and P2=0 is

i^j^k^1-232-31
=7i^+5j^+k^
It is also a normal vector for the required plane
Hence, the equation of the required plane is
7x-1+5y-1+z-1=0
7x+5y+z-13=0

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
