4 moles of A are mixed with 4 moles of B. At equilibrium for the reaction A+B⇌C+D, 2 moles of C and D are formed, the equilibrium constant for the reaction will be,

  • Correct answer
    A
    1
  • B
    1/2
  • C
    4
  • D
    1/4

Solution

The initial concentrations of A, B, C, and D are 4M, 4M, 0M, and 0M respectively.

The equilibrium concentrations of A,B,C and D are 4−2=2M, 4−2=2M, 2M and 2M respectively.

                          A   +       B  ⇌  C   +   Dinitial conc        4              4          0           0at equilibrium 4-2   4-2      2            2

The expression for the equilibrium constant is =[C][D][A][B]

∴ Keq=2×22×2=1

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'A'.
