2.76 g of silver carbonate on being strongly heated yeild a residue weighing

  • Correct answer
    A
    2.16 g
  • B
    2.48 g
  • C
    2.64 g
  • D
    2.32 g

Solution

$\underset{2 \times 276 \mathrm{~g}}{2 \mathrm{Ag}_2 \mathrm{CO}_3} \longrightarrow \underset{\Delta \times 108 \mathrm{~g}}{4 \mathrm{Ag}}+2 \mathrm{CO}_2+\mathrm{O}_2$ $\therefore 2 \times 276 \mathrm{~g}$ of $\mathrm{Ag}_2 \mathrm{CO}_3$ gives $=4 \times 108 \mathrm{~g} \mathrm{Ag}$ $\therefore \quad 1 \mathrm{~g}$ of $\mathrm{Ag}_2 \mathrm{CO}_3$ will give $=\frac{4 \times 108}{2 \times 276}$ $\therefore \quad 2.76 \mathrm{~g}$ of $\mathrm{Ag}_2 \mathrm{CO}_3$ will give $=\frac{4 \times 108 \times 2.76}{2 \times 276}$ $=2.16 \mathrm{~g}$

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'A'.
