Q44 / 160 · AP EAMCET 2021 (20 Aug Shift 2) · Mathematics

Using mathematical induction, the numbers an's are defined by a0=1, an+1= 3n2+n+an, n≥0, then an=

  • A
    n3+n2+1
  • Correct answer
    B
    n3-n2+1
  • C
    n3-n2
  • D
    n3+n2

Solution

Given,  a0=1,an+1=3n2+n+an n≥0

Putting, n=0,

a0+1=3×0+0+a0

a1=a0=1

n=1,

a1+1=3×12+1+a1

a2=3+1+1=5

n=2.

a2+1=322+2+5

a3=19

an: a3

1 n3+n2+1 ⇒33+32+1⇒37 , (wrong option)

2 n3-n2+1⇒33-32+1⇒19 , (right option)

(3) n3-n2⇒33-32=18 (wrong option)

4 n3+n2⇒33+32⇒36 (wrong option)

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
