Two capacitors of capacitance $2 \mu \mathrm{~F}$ and $6 \mu \mathrm{~F}$ are connected in series. A potential difference of 800 V is applied to the outer plates of the two capacitors system. The charge on each capacitor will be :
- A1200 C
- B6000 C
- C$6000 \mu \mathrm{C}$
- Correct answerD$1200 \mu \mathrm{C}$
Solution
$\frac{1}{C_S}=\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{6}=\frac{3+1}{6}=\frac{4}{6}=\frac{2}{3}$
$\therefore \quad C_S=\frac{3}{2} \mu \mathrm{~F}$
In combination charge on each capacitor in same.
So, $Q=C_S V=\frac{3}{2} \times 800=1200 \mu \mathrm{C}$
Hence, the correct answer is option: 'D'.
