Q12 / 90 · JEE Main 2019 (08 Apr Shift 2) · Chemistry

The strength of 11.2 volume solution of H2O2 is

[Given that, the molar mass of H=1 g mol-1 and O=16 g mol-1]

  • A
    1.7 %
  • B
    13.6 %
  • C
    34 %
  • Correct answer
    D
    3.4 %

Solution

Molarity of H2O=Volume strength11.2

M=11.211.2=1

∴ 1 molar means 1000 mL solution contains 1 mol H2O2=1×34 g

Since, the strength is represented as weight of the solute in 1 L of the solution. The strength of the solution will be 34 g L-1.

Note: The question should've mentioned that we need to find the mass by volume percentage.

Percentage w/v =341000×100=3.4%

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'D'.
