The metal that produce $\mathrm{H}_{2}$ with both dil. $\mathrm{HCl}$ and $\mathrm{NaOH}(a q)$ is
- Correct answerA$\mathrm{Zn}$
- BMg
- C$\mathrm{Ca}$
- D$\mathrm{Fe}$
Solution
$\mathrm{Zn}+2 \mathrm{HCl}$ (dil.) $\longrightarrow \mathrm{ZnCl}_{2}+\mathrm{H}_{2}$ $\mathrm{Zn}+2 \mathrm{NaOH}+2 \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O} \longrightarrow \mathrm{Na}_{2}\left[\mathrm{Zn}(\mathrm{OH})_{4}\right]+\mathrm{H}_{2}$
But, Mg, Ca and Fe do not produce hydrogen, when react with aqueous $\mathrm{NaOH}$.
Hence, the correct answer is option: 'A'.
