For isolated capacitor $Q =$ constant.

Now electric field because of one plate of the capacitor is $E = \frac{σ}{2 \in_{0}} = \frac{Q}{2 A \in_{0}}$ .
$∴$ Force on 1 metal plate is
$F = Q E$
$F = Q \frac{σ}{2 \in_{0}} = \frac{Q^{2}}{2 A \in_{0}}$
$∴$ The electrostatic force is independent of the distance between plates.

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
