Q39 / 90 · JEE Main 2019 (08 Apr Shift 2) · Mathematics

Suppose that the points h, k, 1, 2 and -3, 4 lie on the line L1. If a line L2 passing through the points h, k and 4, 3 is perpendicular to L1, then kh equals:

  • A
    -17
  • B
    3
  • C
    0
  • Correct answer
    D
    13

Solution

Figure
Slope of line L1 is 4-2-3-1=2-4=-12
Hence slope of L2 is 2.
From line L1,  k-2h-1=-12
⇒h+2k=5 …..(1)
From line L2,  k-3h-4=2
⇒k=2h-5 ..…(2)
From (1) and (2) h=3 and k=1
⇒kh=13

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'D'.
