Let m be the minimum possible value of log33y1+3y2+3y3 , where y1, y2, y3 are real numbers for which y1+y2+y3=9. Let M be the maximum possible value of log3x1+log3 x2+log3 x3, where x1, x2, x3 are positive real numbers for which x1+x2+x3=9. Then the value of log2 m3+log3M2 is

Correct answer: 8

Solution

Applying A.M-G.M inequality,

3y1+3y2+3y33≥3y1⋅3y2⋅3y313=3y1+y2+y313

⇒3y1+3y2+3y3≥81

So, m=log381=4

Now, log3x1+log3x2+log3x3=log3x1.x2. x3

∵x1+x2+x33≥x1.x2.x313⇒x1.x2.x3≤27 (applying A.M-G.M inequality)

So, M=log327=3

Thus, log2m3+log3M2=8

Hence, the correct answer is 8.
