Q57 / 90 · JEE Main 2021 (16 Mar Shift 1) · Mathematics

Let f:R→R be a continuous function such that fx+fx+1=2 for all x∈R. If I1=∫08fxdx and I2=∫-13fxdx, then the value of I1+2I2 is equal to ________.

Correct answer: 16

Solution

fx+fx+1=2

Replace x by x+1

fx+1+fx+2=2

By subtracting the equations, we get

fx=fx+2

⇒fx is periodic with period =2

I1=∫08fxdx=4∫02fxdx

=4∫01fx+f1+xdx=8

Similarly, I2=2×2=4

Hence, I1+2I2=16

Hence, the correct answer is 16.
