Q33 / 100 · NTA Abhyas (JEE Main) 2020 · Mathematics · Vector Algebra

Let a→ and b→ are two vectors such that a→=2, b→=3 and  a→⋅b→=4. If c→=3a→×b→-4b→, then c→ is equal to

Correct answer: 18

Solution

c→2=3a→×b→-4b→2=9a→×b→2+16b→2-24a→×b→⋅b→
∵a→×b→2=a→2b→2-a→⋅b→2=4×9-16=20
and a→×b→⋅b→=0
Hence, c→2=9×20+16×9=324⇒c→=18

Hence, the correct answer is 18.
