If the osmotic pressure of a 0.010 M aqueous solution of sucrose at $27^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ is 0.25 atm , then the osmotic pressure of a 0.010 M aqueous solution of NaCl at $27^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$ is
- A0.062 atm
- B0.12 atm
- C0.25 atm
- Correct answerD0.50 atm
Solution
Osmotic pressure $=i C R T$, For both the solutions, all other conditions are similar except 'i' which is 1.0 for sucrose while 2.0 for NaCl .
Therefore, osmotic pressure of NaCl $\begin{aligned} & =2 \times 0.25 \\ & =0.50 \mathrm{~atm} \end{aligned}$
Therefore, osmotic pressure of NaCl $\begin{aligned} & =2 \times 0.25 \\ & =0.50 \mathrm{~atm} \end{aligned}$
Hence, the correct answer is option: 'D'.
