Q13 / 90 · NTA Abhyas (JEE Main) 2020 · Mathematics · Area Under Curves

If the maximum area bounded by y2=4x and the line y=mx ∀m∈1,3 is k square units, then the smallest prime number greater than 3k is

  • A
    3
  • B
    5
  • C
    7
  • Correct answer
    D
    11

Solution

The area covered is maximum if ‘m’ is minimum, i.e. m=1
Figure
∴ Required area ∫044x-xdx
= 2⋅ x 3 2 3 2 − x 2 2 0 4
=43x32-x2204
=323-8=83 sq. units
∴k=83
Thus required prime number =11

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'D'.
