If the function f(x) defined by fx=xsin⁡1x forx≠0kforx=0 is continuous at x=0 , then k= _______

  • Correct answer
    A
    0
  • B
    1
  • C
    -1
  • D
    12

Solution

fx=xsin⁡1x forx≠0kforx=0
Since f( x ) is continuous at x=0
⇒ lim x→0 f( x )=f( 0 )
∴    limx→0⁡xsin⁡1x=k
⇒   0=k
( ∵sin( 1 x )∈  [ −1, 1 ]for all x≠0 )

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'A'.
