If 52 is the sum of two roots of the equation 6x6-25x5+31x4-31x2+25x-6=0 then the sum of all non-real roots of the equation is

  • A
    does not exist
  • B
    0
  • Correct answer
    C
    53
  • D
    25

Solution

Given,

6x6-25x5+31x4-31x2+25x-6=0

Let a1,a2, a3, a4, a5, a6 be roots of the given equation,

Now given that sum of two roots is 53,

And by hit and trial we get other two roots as 1 & -1,

So, assuming a1+a2=52 & a3=1, a4=-1

By formula of sum of roots =--256 we get,

a1+a2+a3+a4+a5+a6=256

⇒52+1+-1+a5+a6=256

⇒a5+a6=256-52

⇒a5+a6=53

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
