If 11·5+15·9+19·13+… to n terms =27109 then n=

  • A
    21
  • Correct answer
    B
    27
  • C
    63
  • D
    189

Solution

Given 11·5+15·9+19·13+… to n terms =27109.

We know that the nth term of an A.P., a, a+d, a+2d,... is a+n-1d.

Hence, the nth term of 1, 5, 9,... is 1+n-14=4n-3 and that of 5, 9, 13,... is 5+n-14=4n+1.

Thus, the given series can be written as 11·5+15·9+19·13+…+14n-34n+1=27109

⇒1441·5+45·9+49·13+…+44n-34n+1=27109

⇒145-11·5+9-55·9+13-99·13+…+4n+1-4n-34n-34n+1=27109

⇒1451·5-11·5+95·9-55·9+139·13-99·13+…+4n+14n-34n+1-4n-34n-34n+1=27109

⇒1411-15+15-19+19-113+…+14n-3-14n+1=27109

⇒141-14n+1=27109

⇒144n+1-14n+1=27109

⇒n4n+1=27109

⇒109n=274n+1

⇒109n=108n+27

⇒n=27

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
