How many revolutions does a wheel with angular speed \(88 \mathrm{rad} \mathrm{s}^{-1}\) make in one second?

  • A
    7
  • Correct answer
    B
    14
  • C
    28
  • D
    44

Solution

Angular speed of wheel, \(\omega=88 \mathrm{rad} \mathrm{s}^{-1}\) \(\therefore\) Number of revolution per second is equal to its frequency \(f\). i.e. \(\omega=2 \pi f\) \(\Rightarrow \quad f=\frac{\omega}{2 \pi}=\frac{88}{2 \times \frac{22}{7}}=\frac{88 \times 7}{2 \times 22}=14 \mathrm{rev} / \mathrm{s}\)

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
