Drugs that bind to receptor site and inhibit the natural functions are known as antagonists. Agonist are type of drugs that activate the natural messenger by switching on the receptor, useful when lack of chemical messenger. If the drug binds to a site other than active site in an enzyme, it is known as allosteric site.
