Q85 / 180 · KCET 2021 · Mathematics

$f: R \rightarrow R$ defined by $f(x)$ is equal to $\left\{\begin{array}{c}2 x, x>3 \\ x^{2}, 1 < x \leq 3, \text { then } f(-2)+f(3)+f(4) \text { is } \\ 3 x, x \leq 1\end{array}\right.$

  • A
    14
  • B
    9
  • C
    5
  • Correct answer
    D
    11

Solution

Given, $f(x)=\left\{\begin{array}{cc}2 x, & x>3 \\ x^{2}, & 1 < x \leq 3 \\ 3 x, & x \leq 1\end{array}\right.$ $\therefore \quad f(-2)+f(3)+f(4)$ $=3(-2)+(3)^{2}+2(4)=-6+9+8=11$

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'D'.
