Q3 / 170 · Manipal (MET) 2016 · Chemistry

Cost of sugar $\left(\mathrm{C}_{12} \mathrm{H}_{22} \mathrm{O}_{11}\right)$ is $₹ 50$ per kg. Calculate its cost per mol.

  • Correct answer
    A
    ₹ 17.1 per mol
  • B
    ₹ 27.1 per mol
  • C
    ₹ 14.1 per $\mathrm{r}^{-4}$
  • D
    None of the rove

Solution

$\begin{aligned} \text { Molar mass of sugar } & =12 \times 12+1 \times 22+11 \times 16 \\ & =144+22+176\end{aligned}$ $=342 \mathrm{~g}$ $\because$ Cost of 1000 g of sugar is $₹ 50$. $\therefore$ Cost of 342 g of sugar $=\frac{50}{1000} \times 342$ $=17.1$

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'A'.
