Q56 / 180 · NEET 2017 · Chemistry

Concentration of the Ag+ ions in a saturated solution of Ag2C2O4 is 2.2×10-4 mol L-1. Solubility product of Ag2C2O4 is

  • A
    2.42× 10-8
  • B
    2.66×10-12
  • C
    4.5×10-11
  • Correct answer
    D
    5.3×10-12

Solution

Ag2C2O4s⇌2Ag+aq+C2O42-aq2ss

Ksp=Ag+2 C2O42-

Ag+=2.2×10-4mol/L

∴     C2O42-=2.2×10-42 M=1.1×10-4M

∴      Ksp=2.2×10-42 1.1×10-4 (mol/L)3

=5.324×10-12 (mol/L)3.

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'D'.
