Q33 / 155 · WBJEE 2019 · Chemistry
At constant pressure, the heat of formation of a compound is not dependent on temperature, when
- Correct answerA$\Delta C_{p}=0$
- B$\Delta C_{v}=0$
- C$\Delta C_{p}>0$
- D$\Delta C_{p} < 0$
Solution
Key Point According to Kirchhoff sequation
$$
\Delta H_{(f)}=\Delta H_{(i)}+C_{P}(\Delta T)
$$
At constant pressure
$$
\Delta C_{p}=O
$$
Therefore, heat of formation $\left(\Delta H_{f}\right)$ does not depend on temperature and value of $\Delta C_{p}$ i.e. when $\Delta C_{p}=0$
Hence, option (a) is the correct answer.
Hence, the correct answer is option: 'A'.
