Q95 / 120 · VITEEE 2011 · Physics

An inductive circuit contains a resistance of $10 \Omega$ and an inductance of $2.0 \mathrm{H}$. Ifan $\mathrm{AC}$ voltage of $120 \mathrm{~V}$ and frequency of $60 \mathrm{~Hz}$ is applied to this circuit, the current in the circuit would be nearly

  • A
    $0.32 \mathrm{~A}$
  • Correct answer
    B
    $0.16 \mathrm{~A}$
  • C
    $0.43 \mathrm{~A}$
  • D
    $0.80 \mathrm{~A}$

Solution

Here, impedence $\mathrm{z}=\sqrt{R^{2}+X_{L}^{2}}$ $\therefore \sqrt{(10)^{2}+(2 \pi \times 60 \times 2)^{2}}=753.7$ $\therefore$ Current $\mathrm{i}=\frac{V}{Z}=\frac{120}{753.7}=0.159 \mathrm{~A}$

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
