An ideal gas is subjected to a cyclic process $\mathrm{ABCD}$ as depicted in the $\mathrm{p}-\mathrm{V}$ diagram given below:

Which of the following curves represents the equivalent cyclic process?

Which of the following curves represents the equivalent cyclic process?
- Correct answerA

- B

- C

- D

Solution
Process $A \rightarrow B \rightarrow C \rightarrow D \rightarrow A$ is clockwise.
During $A \rightarrow B$, pressure is constant and $B \rightarrow C$, process follows $p \propto \frac{1}{V}$ ie., $T$ is constant. During process $C \rightarrow D$, both $p$ and $V$ changes and process $D \rightarrow A$ follows $p \propto \frac{1}{V}$ i.e., $T$ is constant.

Hence, equivalent cyclic process is has follows.

Hence, equivalent cyclic process is has follows.

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'A'.
