A potentiometer is connected across A and B and a balance is obtained at $64.0 \mathrm{~cm}$. When potentiometer lead to $\mathrm{B}$ is moved to $\mathrm{C}$, a balance is found at $8.0 \mathrm{~cm}$. If the potentometer is now connected across B and C, a balance will be found at

- A$8.0 \mathrm{~cm}$
- Correct answerB$56.0 \mathrm{~cm}$
- C$64.0 \mathrm{~cm}$
- D$72.0 \mathrm{~cm}$
Solution
Here, $\mathrm{E}_{1} \propto 64$
$\mathrm{E}_{1}-\mathrm{E}_{2} \propto 8$
$\mathrm{E}_{2} \propto l$
$\therefore \quad 64-l=8$ or $l=64-8=56 \mathrm{~cm}$
Hence, the correct answer is option: 'B'.
