Q5 / 181 · NTA Abhyas (JEE Main) 2020 · Physics · Laws of Motion

A particle slides down on a smooth incline of inclination 30o , fixed in an elevator going up with an acceleration 2 m/s2. The box of incline has width 4m. The time taken by the particle to reach the bottom will be

Figure

  • A
    893s
  • B
    983s
  • Correct answer
    C
    4332s
  • D
    3432s

Solution

Figure
In the frame of elevator,

a = acceleration of the particle with respect to the elevator

∴     msin⁡30 g+2=ma

a=g+2sin⁡30o

=10+2 .12

=6 m/s2

∴   The distance travelled by the particle from the top to the bottom,

d=4cos⁡30o=432=833m

Using s=ut+12 at2 ,

833=0×t+126t2

⇒     t2=1633×6

∴      t=4332 s

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
