Q29 / 126 · NTA Abhyas (NEET) 2020 · Physics · Motion In Two Dimensions

A particle A is projected from the ground with an initial velocity of 10 ms-1at an angle of 60o with horizontal. From what height h should an another particle B be projected horizontally with velocity 5 ms-1 so that both the particles collide in ground at point C if both are projected simultaneously? (g=10ms-2)

Figure

  • A
    10 m
  • B
    30 m
  • Correct answer
    C
    15 m
  • D
    25 m

Solution

For both the particle to collide at point, their time of fight should be same

T = 2 usin θ g = 2 10 sin 60 10 = 2 3 2

time of fight of particle thrown from above

t = 2h g

equation we get,

2h g = 3

h = 15 m

Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
