A factory produces $40 \mathrm{~kg}$ of calcium in two hours by electrolysis. How much aluminium can be produced by same current in 2 hours if current efficiency is $50 \%$ ?
- A$22 \mathrm{~kg}$
- B$18 \mathrm{~kg}$
- Correct answerC$9 \mathrm{~kg}$
- D$27 \mathrm{~kg}$
Solution
$\frac{W_{\mathrm{Ca}}}{E_{\mathrm{Ca}}}=\frac{W_{\mathrm{Al}}}{E_{\mathrm{Al}}} \Rightarrow \frac{40}{20}=\frac{W_{\mathrm{Al}}}{9} \Rightarrow W_{\mathrm{Al}}=18 \mathrm{~kg}$
As current efficiency is $50 \% \mathrm{so}, W_{\mathrm{Al}}=9 \mathrm{~kg}$
Hence, the correct answer is option: 'C'.
